Ahmed Al Harmoudi:

The Ninth International Scientific Conference for Medical Students in the Gulf Cooperation Council Countries was held in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates, on 26–30 December 2014. The conference was attended by more than 1300 delegates from around 20 countries. Keynote speakers included Professor Adeeba Kamarulzaman (CERiA, Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia), Professor Linda Samuelson (Michigan State University, Ann Arbor, MI, USA), Professor Dennis Templeton (Dean, College of Medicine and Health Sciences, United Arab Emirates University, Al Ain, United Arab Emirates) and Dr Mohamed Al Olama (Rashid Hospital, Dubai, United Arab Emirates). The programme also included 36 oral and 147 poster presentations, 18 workshops, a medical exhibition and a variety of exciting social events.

The organizers of the conference would like to acknowledge the generosity of the sponsors, including United Arab Emirates University, the Al Jalila Foundation and the Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences, and extend their appreciation to the Hamdan Medical Journal for their generous support and valuable collaboration in the preparation of this edition.
