Dear Editor,
In October–December 2021 issue of the Hamdan Medical Journal, Ahmad and Hassan[1] nicely described two Indian children with bezoar obstruction presented as acute abdomen. I presume that the following point ought to be considered. There are different types of child abuse (CA) that might be difficult to diagnose, especially in young children with often misleading medical histories.[2] Interestingly, bezoar as a presentation of CA has been reported in the literature.[3] In India, CA is a major concern as the available data pointed out to the alarmingly high prevalence of abuse (89.9%).[4] I, therefore, assume that in-depth evaluation for the conditions that put the two cases in question at risk for abuse and a psychological assessment of the parents seem crucial and proper actions must be implemented to prevent further occurrence of the incident.
